Chicken Alfredo

Chicken Alfredo is a classic Italian-American dish consisting of fettuccine pasta tossed in a creamy Alfredo sauce with tender pieces of chicken. The sauce is typically made from butter, heavy cream, and Parmesan cheese, resulting in a rich and velvety texture. Sometimes, garlic and herbs like parsley are added to enhance the flavor of the sauce. The chicken is often seasoned and cooked separately before being added to the sauce, adding protein and heartiness to the dish. Chicken Alfredo is a comforting and indulgent meal that's loved for its creamy texture and savory flavors. It's often served as a main course with garlic bread or a side salad, making it a satisfying option for pasta lovers everywhere.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz 225g fettuccine pasta
  • 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

Cook the Pasta:

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the fettuccine pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain the pasta and set aside.

Cook the Chicken:

  • Season the chicken pieces with salt and pepper.
  • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the chicken pieces and cook until they are golden brown and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes per side. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.

Make the Alfredo Sauce:

  • In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute, until fragrant.
  • Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a simmer. Let it simmer for a few minutes until slightly thickened, stirring occasionally.
  • Gradually stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until it melts and the sauce is smooth and creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Combine Chicken and Pasta:

  • Return the cooked chicken pieces to the skillet with the Alfredo sauce. Stir to coat the chicken in the sauce.

Serve:

  • Add the cooked fettuccine pasta to the skillet with the chicken and sauce. Toss everything together until the pasta is evenly coated.
  • Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired.
  • Serve hot and enjoy your delicious homemade Chicken Alfredo!
