Waldorf salad
Feel free to customize this recipe to your taste preferences by adding ingredients like dried cranberries, raisins, or substituting Greek yogurt for some or all of the mayonnaise for a lighter version.
Ingredients
- 2 large apples cored and diced (use crisp, sweet varieties like Gala or Fuji)
- 1 cup celery thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup seedless grapes halved
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice freshly squeezed
- 1 tablespoon honey
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Lettuce leaves
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the diced apples, sliced celery, halved grapes, and chopped walnuts.
- In a separate small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, lemon juice, and honey until well combined.
- Pour the dressing over the apple mixture and toss gently until everything is evenly coated.
- Season the salad with salt and pepper to taste, adjusting the seasoning as needed.
- Refrigerate the Waldorf Salad for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together and chill.
- Before serving, give the salad a quick toss to redistribute the dressing. Optionally, line a serving platter or individual plates with lettuce leaves and spoon the Waldorf Salad on top.
- Serve chilled and enjoy your refreshing Waldorf Salad as a side dish or light meal.
