Caprese salad

You can adjust the quantities of ingredients based on the number of servings you need and your personal taste preferences. This salad is best enjoyed fresh when the ingredients are at their peak flavor.

Ingredients
  

  • 3-4 ripe tomatoes preferably vine-ripened
  • 1-2 large fresh mozzarella balls about 8-10 ounces total
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Balsamic glaze optional
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • Slice the tomatoes and mozzarella into approximately ¼-inch thick slices.
  • Arrange the tomato and mozzarella slices on a serving plate, alternating them and slightly overlapping.
  • Tuck fresh basil leaves between the slices of tomato and mozzarella.
  • Drizzle extra virgin olive oil over the salad.
  • Optionally, drizzle some balsamic glaze over the salad for added sweetness and flavor.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Serve immediately as a refreshing appetizer or side dish.
